English rider in top three at the end of first day at Jerez

Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) was in a positive mood at the end of the first day of the #JerezWorldSBK round as he booked himself straight into to Tissot-Superpole 2 in third place, as FP2 concluded.

The Yamaha man was just under a tenth faster than his sixth placed colleague Sylvain Guintoli and is looking forward to going racing on the YZF R1 on Saturday.

Lowes commented, “The second session was good and in fact I felt quite good all day on the bike. We’ve been making steady progress throughout the sessions and the bike has been improving all the time so yes I feel quite good. We did a longer run in the middle part of FP2 and then used fresh tyres at the end and obviously jumped up with the lap time.”

He continued, “The pace feels quite good and there are a lot of us with a similar pace so I’m looking to make some improvements in the morning.  I’m looking forward to the race and I feel a lot better prepared than at the last few so hopefully it should be a lot of fun. There are a few little areas I want to improve, on acceleration, I’ll work with the guys on improving a little bit to make it easier to race with the others.”
